Finding Your Date at the Gas Station

I know that this might seem weird but it really does work. A friend of mine met her boyfriend this way and they’ve had a great relationship now for six months. Where did she meet him? She met him at a gas station of all places.

At first you might think that this was by chance. Actually it wasn’t. She did a lot of planning and figuring. Every morning she goes to the same gas station to buy a cup of coffee to drink on the way to work. Of course since she’s heading to work she gets there within a five minute time frame virtually every morning. She noticed that there were several others that also go to the same gas station as part of their early morning commute routine. One of these guys she wanted to hook up with.
For a week, she checked what time she arrived and left the gas station. She also made notes of when he arrived, if he was already there or didn’t show at all. Turns out he had the same habit of stopping into the gas station every morning for a honey bun and soda. He bought the same thing every day. She watched to see which car was his. One morning while he was inside the gas station, she left him a note and her phone number.

Two days later, he called her. They met on Saturday morning that they didn’t have to go to work at the gas station. They ended up going to the park and spending the day together. Now six months later they are still dating.

Broadway Plaza Motel, Denver, Colorado

1111 Broadway * Denver, CO 80203 * (303) 893-0303

A simple motel right on Broadway in the heart and close to many popular clubs, restaurants, and shops. Excellent stumbling location when you’ve had a little too much at the club. We hit this place after clubbing, when Denver was icy and snow packed - definitely not driving conditions for evening driving. Our room was a bit smokey smelling, that musty sense of a cheap motel, but appearance wise it looked like a nice room. Cigarette stains in the sheets though, and a bathtub that clogged up. Room had great party amenities … microwave, fridge, tv, so had its creature comforts. But definitely a run-of-the-mill motel el cheapo’. We paid about $54 for the night, which wasn’t bad for the downtown area. While I’ll definitely use this place again for party-adventures, I’ll bring my own sheets next time.

Rating: 3 stars (based on location, room amenities, stumbling route) out of 5 stars.
