You Don’t Need Wingmen

The history of wingmen is painted upon long, artful tapestries of bro-hood, ribald tales and colorful strategies. Well, maybe not on tapestries. But basically yeah, guys going out in hunting packs of guys to meet girls has a long history. And while it’s a whole lot of fun for these guys to head out with their buddies to mack on some ladies (and possibly even be successful), when it comes down to it, we don’t need wingmen. In fact, wingmen tend to hold guys back.

There’s an old argument about ‘solo game’ that goes something like, “But that’s not fun! It’s more fun to pick up chicks when I head out with my bros!” We tend to agree with this argument, but we also like to draw a distinction between going out with bros for a good time and going out to meet women. Not to say they aren’t necessarily mutually exclusive, but we’ve found that rather than diluting our hanging out bro time with Chasing girls, we’d rather simply be with our friends. Likewise, when we’re out meeting more women every day and hustling new phone numbers, having other guys there is simply going to slow us down.

And of course, our bros don’t take offense because they know bro-time is bro-time, and meeting-more-women-time is meeting-more-women-time. This is why we recommend you go out alone to meet women: doing it solo is faster, more efficient, grows more balls and ultimately leads to a higher quality of life. There are a few exceptions we have to this rule, and they are: Everyone splits up, talks to 30 women, and meets back up at an agreed upon location in about an hour to ninety minutes or so Your wingman observes you approaching 30 women, then sits down with you to give you his feedback That’s about it.

Fact of the matter is talking with our guy friends tends to interesting, funny and stimulating. This is great and all, but it divides guys’ attention between properly enjoying their time with their friends while being distracted by trying to ‘get girls,’ which ends up with neither one being done very well.
