Gender Myth-busting 101
I’m no expert on this, however, in the years I’ve been around men in a relationship or not, I’ve learned a few common misconceptions that the opposite sex have for the other.
One - “Girls are fickle.”
It may be true that women can be fickle but to some extent, men can be, too. Between the two genders, men are known to be more indecisive than women.
Two - “Men are assholes.”
In this life, I’m sure there are women out there who can say that NOT all men are assholes. They may be capable of such behaviour in certain situations but it doesn’t automatically mean that we can generalise and categorise all of them under this statement.
Three - “Girlfriends are high-maintenance.”
This is one of the assumptions that I frown upon. It makes me want to suggest an elective wherein it will educate men (and women) that having a girlfriend doesn’t effectuate breaking the bank or investing your entire being just to make them happy or stay.
Four - “Boyfriends are headaches.”
If they are then I suggest that women who believes that should stay single and quit whinging about it. Be a spinster.
Five - “Guys will perennially disappoint you.”
I believe that it’s a state of mind. Set a high expectation and not guide not educate a man (during a relationship) on how to meet it would mean that you’ve brought it upon yourself. If you continue living your life thinking that men will always disappoint you then don’t be surprised when you attract those kind of men. I believe in positive thinking.
Six - “It’s difficult to win an argument with your woman.”
The use of intellect is a responsibility for both genders. I suggest that you present your arguments well. I’m sure that women are not as irrational as you may think they are — especially the ones who truly cares about you. They only need an assurance of your feelings (and loyalty, in some instances).
So, what do you guys think? Was I able to cover some of the basics? Can you think of other things we can add on the list?
You got it!
Straight from the mouth of a gamer. He educates other male gamers on just how to manouver themselves in the dating scene using illustrations that show how their “experiences from games relates to the romantic sphere”.
Who or what is a gamer anyway? Well, ever heard of these games? Online games?
World of Warcraft. Ragnarok Online. Guild Wars.
Sheesh.
These people do establish an online community much like how bloggers relate to other bloggers through their blogs but, of course, they have their characters, raids and guilds. However, here’s a really funny bit on where gamers stand when it comes to dating. [Not that I’m knowledge-able in these things. My brother’s a gamer, though. Heehee.]
“Face it, you spend more time thinking about leveling up than you do about dating. Even if you think about sex constantly, you are not working on ways to get it. You need to start planning ahead a bit, for chance favors the prepared mind.” — Kill Ten Rats
And here’s a primer on how exactly he went about his “lesson”. Heehee.
“How long did you spend planning your last character, guild event, or raid? How long have you spend comparing the numbers on templates, drops, and everything else? How often have you started looking for a clean pair of jeans less than ten minutes before a date?” — Kill Ten Rats
I really had fun reading it. AND that’s just Part 1. Heehee. I’m now off to reading the 2nd part. Ta!
